Later this week we are expecting the CARE Act stimulus checks from the federal government to begin being direct deposited into accounts. The federal government will begin making deposits to people who used direct deposit on their 2018 or 2019 tax returns. This will include Social Security beneficiaries who filed federal tax returns that included direct deposit information.

What should you expect to receive?

For Single Workers Making Up to $75,000 per Year
Payments of up to $1,200 per adult and $500 per minor child.

For Married Workers Making Up to $150,000 per Year per Household
Payments of up to $1,200 with an additional $500 payment per minor child.

For Workers Making Over $75,000 per Year
The payments decrease and stop altogether for single workers making more than $99,000 ($198,000 for married workers and $218,000 for a family of four).

Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019 and receive their Social Security benefits via direct deposit will be paid with a second round of deposits later in April or early May. Once the direct deposits are complete, the government will begin issuing paper checks to the remaining qualifiers.
